TEMPORARY TRAIL CLOSURE - RICHMOND SECTION NEAR MM 51 (JUNE 9 & 16)
A small section of the Capital Trail in Richmond (MM 51) will be temporarily closed on June 9 and June 16 from 8:00 am to noon. The closure is necessary to ensure public safety while heavy equipment is used to install and remove banners on the Intermediate Terminal Building. Detours will be in place. Please use caution and follow posted signage. Thank you for your patience.
PARKING LOT AT GREAT SHIPLOCK PARK TEMPORARILY CLOSED (JUNE 8-16)
The parking lot at Great Shiplock Park will be closed June 8–16, and towing will be enforced. Trail access remains available, but visitors will need to use alternate parking options.
Alternative parking options in Richmond near the Capital Trail:
Amtrak station (one block from the Trail). Approximately $5-$6 per night.

ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION SITE AT DOCK STREET PARK IN RICHMOND (MM 51.2)
There is an active construction site at Dock Street Park in Richmond (MM 51.2). Please be alert for construction vehicles crossing the Trail. Please be alert and use caution.
RICHMOND SAILFEST - DOCK STREET PARK (JUNE 12-14)
The Virginia Museum of History & Culture will host Richmond Sailfest on June 12-14 along the Capital Trail between the Intermediate Terminal Building and Dock Street Park (MM 51). Trail users should expect heavy pedestrian traffic throughout this area. Please travel at slow speeds, use caution, and be mindful of people, especially young children, crossing the Trail. Cyclists are encouraged to dismount and walk their bikes through this section.
