Multiple Hazards Reported Due to Storm
UPDATE - The two fallen trees have been removed! Thank you, VDOT!
Two fallen trees are currently blocking the Trail, one approximately 0.5 miles east of Roxbury Rd and another 0.5 miles west of Herring Creek. We have also received reports about two downed lines from a blown transformer just east of MM 35, along with limbs and other debris scattered throughout the area. Please stay safe, be alert, and use caution!
kickstand bridge repairs
The bridge near the Kickstand (between MM 50 and MM 51) is being replaced. Repairs will begin on Tuesday, June 24th. There will be a detour in place underneath the Intermediate Terminal Building. Please slow down and use caution when passing through this area.
Sewer construction near mm 45
There will be a temporary detour between MM 45 & MM 46 for sewer line construction. Construction is expected to last for 2 weeks. Please use caution when passing through this area.
Lighting Installation Planned for 2025 near mm 51 (Rocketts Landing)
Beginning in 2025, self-sustaining lighting will be installed along the Capital Trail throughout the Rocketts Landing area (between MM 50 - MM 51) for increased pedestrian safety. This installation may include workers and equipment on or near the Trail. Please use caution when proceeding through the area.
bridge deck work scheduled for 2025
The bridge deck just west of MM 3 is scheduled to get an epoxy overlay. The estimated timeframe is Fall/Winter 2025.
