Cat Anthony: Executive Director

Cat Anthony is the new Executive Director of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation; she started in October of 2017.  Cat is from the great City of Richmond and grew up in the West End; she has loved seeing the transformation of Richmond.  She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a double major in Psychology and Religious Studies.  After her time at VCU, she was decided to work in the wilderness therapy and travel.  She has had many adventures in her work experience, from guiding seven-week expeditions in Alaska to leading rock climbing trips in New Mexico.  During her travels and work experience, she gained much knowledge of the nonprofit field.  For example, Cat worked in the Richmond based nonprofit, Blue Sky Fund, creating programming and working in operations.  Later, she worked at a Paralympic Sports Club called Sportable in both operations and fundraising. Cat has over ten years of experience in nonprofit management and is excited to be the new Executive Director of the Capital Trail.  When she is not playing on the Capital Trail, she loves traveling to exotic places, drinking too much coffee, and cooking up a storm.

Katie Rothert: Outreach & Program Manager

Katie Rothert is the Outreach & Program Manager of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation. She started at the Foundation in November 2016 after graduating from the University of Richmond with a double major in English and Film Studies. Born and raised in Richmond, she has a passion for the local culture and continued growth of the city. Her father, Allen Rothert, who has worked for the city of Richmond for  over 40 years, introduced her to the sports and recreation scene from a very early age. She first heard about the Virginia Capital Trail on a family trip to Williamsburg during the Trail’s early phases of construction. Many years later, after the Trail’s completion, she is excited to advocate for the Trail as it continues to grow as both a local resource and tourist destination. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the local restaurant scene, going to the movies, and praying for good weather during Cap2Cap.
