What a perfect day it was for the End of Summer Challenge Party! Over 70% of participants completed the Challenge by biking, skating, running, or walking, seeing the entire Trail this summer (and sometimes more!) between June 1st and September 11th.
New this year were prize categories. Below are the incredible winners:
Most cycled miles overall: Jamal Jordan, 4673.91 miles
Most ebiked miles overall: Robb Myer, 3466.8 miles
Most ran miles overall: Danielle Canonico, 263.45 miles
Most walked miles overall: Peter Moulton, 564.05 miles
Most skated miles overall: Nadine Zimmerli, 108.861 miles (Honorable Mentions: Tricia Wingard, 106.04 miles and Angela Schmillen, 104.6 miles)
Most cycled miles at once: Jamal Jordan, 171.23 miles
Most ebiked miles at once: Robb Myer, 80.5 miles
Most ran miles at once: Rochelle Klinger, 32 miles
Most walked miles at once: Andrew Van Deren, 19.26 miles
Most skated miles at once: Melissa Kret, 19.5 miles
Most variety: Nadine Zimmerli, cycled 313.481 miles; skated 108.861 miles; walked 12.873 miles
Most improved: Kim Tempesco (first report 9.71 cycled miles, last report 101.31 cycled miles)

The Cap Trail Summer Challenge goes from June 1st through Labor Day. The “challenge” is to see all 51.7 miles of the Virginia Capital Trail during that time period! Register to run, walk, bike, or skate 51.7, 103.4 or 51.7(X) miles (X = VCT’s current age). It’s a great way to keep you motivated and active throughout the summer!
