**Please note VCTF requires notice of any event happening on the Trail at least 30 days prior to the event**

FAQ- Event Planning Edition

Q: What permits do I need?

A: Remember your first step is to notify the VCTF with your event date, possible routes, website and any additional information. It is important when planning an event to communicate with counties and local VDOT offices about required permits. More information about possible permits can be found in the permits section.

Q: Can I close the Trail for an event?

A: No, the Trail can never be closed for an event. We even keep the Trail open during our Cap2Cap bike ride for non-event participants to use and enjoy. 

Q: Can you promote our Trail event?

A: We can help promote your event in the following ways:

1) E-newsletter: Ad space is available for purchase in our e-newsletter which reaches +17,000 Trail enthusiasts. For more information and rates, please see our NEWSLETTER GUIDE

2) Social Media: Every Friday we promote upcoming weekend events on the Trail. If you're interested in being featured on our Facebook page, please e-mail us details and any important links by the Wednesday before your event. Please note that space is limited and we cannot guarantee a spot for each request.

3) Events Calendar: Shoot us an e-mail with details (date, time, location, price, etc.), website or event page link, and a logo or image from your event and we will add it to our online Event calendar for free.
