 Development and Marketing Intern Job Description

Mission:  The Virginia Capital Trail Foundation (VCTF) is a nonprofit, 501 (c)(3) organization, with a mission to enhance, promote, and advocate for the continued development of the Virginia Capital Trail, a 52-mile dedicated multi-use trail connecting Richmond and Williamsburg along the beautiful and historic Route 5 corridor.

Location: Richmond, VA (open to remote work on certain projects)

Job Industry: Nonprofit

Salary:  Stipend depending on length of internship

Hours:  15-20 hours a week, Occasional evening and weekend work required

Job Duties:

Development/Fundraising Tasks

  • Data Entry in Constant Contact and Etapestry
  • Donor and sponsor communications
  • Grant research and writing assistance
  • Coordinate donor events with Executive Director


  • Assist in social media and website editing
  • Add updates to online, interactive Trail map
  • Assist in press releases and public relations with constituents
  • Assist in communication with partners

Event Management

o   Coordinate Cap2Cap Ride and other Special Events

§  Sponsorship and partnership support

§  Maintain volunteer and sponsor spreadsheets

§  Create social media and C2C website content

§  Coordinate advertising campaigns and oversee ride promotion

§  Assist with signage and other printed materials for ride day

§  Other tasks as needed

*Other responsibilities include day to day operational support deemed priority by Executive Director and Program staff
