The Ride (Frequently Asked Questions)
The routes follow Route 5, The Virginia Capital Trail and surrounding local roads. The 15 mile Fun Ride is only on the Capital Trail, all others are on the local roads and the Capital Trail. The routes are fully marked with a police presence at major intersections. Riders will be provided with route maps and cue sheets before the ride. For preliminary route map click HERE. Finalized route maps with updated rest stop information will be published soon.
There will be parking on site a short walk from the venue and starting line. If you have questions regarding accessibility please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
There are a total of 8 rest stops along the routes. Rest stops provide snacks, water, sports drinks, basic first aid supplies, portable toilets, and basic bike technician support. The location of rest stops along each route will be on the maps provided as well as indicated on the cue sheets.
There will be police and EMS support along the route as well as SAG vehicles available via cell phone to assist riders along the routes. SAG numbers will be attached to the back of every rider's bib number.
LUNCH & ENTERTAINMENT
Lunch is included in the price of registration. There will be additional lunch tickets available for purchase. The ride venue will also host a vendor expo, a VCT merchandise table, and live bands for entertainment. Beer will be provided by Hardywood Park Craft Brewery and wine will be provided by Williamsburg Winery. What should I bring?
All of our riders have different needs and we do our best to meet all of them. Just bring your bike, helmet, and any riding gear you may need and you're all set. This year we're also offering a bag check for any additional items you wish to bring with you but don't want to carry on your bike.
What distance should I ride?
We encourage everyone of all skill levels to participate in our ride which is why we offer four different distances. If you want to do a shorter distance just indicate so before ride week via email on in person at packet pickup and we will change your registration free of charge. Any changes to longer distances will be subject to additional charges. If you should decide on route that you are unable to finish the ride, SAG vehicles will be available to assist you.
