The Trail

The Virginia Capital Trail is a pedestrian and bicycle trail that will connect the Commonwealth’s past and present capitals of Jamestown, Williamsburg and Richmond along the Scenic Route 5 corridor. The Trail will traverse 50+ miles, four jurisdictions and 400 years rich in history along one of the first inland routes in North America.  The Virginia Capital Trail is still under construction, with an estimated completion date of 2014.

How can I support this fabulous trail?

  • The Virginia Capital Trail Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to promote, complete, enhance and maintain the Trail.  Everything costs money, from the signs and benches, to our efforts in gaining the best alignment possible on the remaining phases.
  • Have your civic group, school, club, company invite the Foundation to be your next speaker.
  • Volunteer to help with the Foundation's largest fundraiser, the Cap2Cap.
