Rocketts Landing - Our Title Sponsor
Why is Rocketts Landing and the Cap2Cap ride a natural partnership? Because the Virginia Capital Trail will go right through their vibrant new community. This riverfront development, straddling Henrico County and the City of Richmond, features the Trail as an important amenity, “linking our residents to downtown in a beautiful and usable way” says Marti Cooke, Director of Sales and Marketing. She adds that “current residents and prospective buyers are incredibly excited about being able to go outside their front door to hop on a 55-mile trail taking them to the country or to the city.” As their development draws an active and outdoorsy demographic, Marti predicts the Trail will become an integral part of daily life at Rocketts Landing. “We are really excited to see the Trail go through Rocketts Landing, and are thrilled to have their support of the Foundation and the Cap2Cap event in such a generous way.” said Beth Weisbrod, Executive Director of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation. Both Marti and Beth hope the starting line of next year’s Cap2Cap ride will be at a new and stunning location that showcases the Trail, right in the middle of Rocketts Landing.

First Phase of the Virginia Capital Trail
Officially Opens
At a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony, Governor Tim Kaine opens the first section of the Capital Trail near Jamestown. The Governor was joined by First Lady Anne Holton, Senator Tommy Norment, Delegates Bill Barlow and Melanie Rapp, students from Jamestown High School and Clara Byrd Baker Elementary School, and over a hundred members of the community who braved the chilly weather to participate in the inaugural one mile walk. Governor Kaine acknowledged the Foundation and heralded the Trail as a legacy for all Virginians. He also committed to complete the Trail to Richmond by the end of his administration in 2010. The next section of the Trail is scheduled to open next May.
